Arete has many definitions. The two best ones i found for the word is "moral virtue" and "excellence of any kind." It is said the ancient Greeks used this word for almost anything. People such as Plato, achilles, and odysseus had arate in them by everyone of their different traits. Plato states it is something you are always trying to achieve. Achilles had arete because he was the best warrior a man can ever be. Odysseus has arete because he is so clever and thinks up effective plots.

*what people did in summer*

I learned from my classmate Ivan that he spent his summer hanging with friends, playing guitar, going to the gym, and played video games. my other class mate crystal told me she went to the zoo in San Diego. I've never been there but it looks nice. Darlene told me she went to palm springs and went camping. that sounds like fun. the time i had gone it was during winter and we went up a mountain it was really cold and my shoes were ripped from the bottom so i ended up not being able to feel my toes. And my kind friend Josue went camping.

***Summer***

My summer had many eventful events. My summer consisted in hanging out with friends, summer school, and working. My most eventful event was going traveling with my dad. It was like any other day except my sister was not with us leaving only my little sister and brother. So my dad was overwhelmed and tired and didn't know what he wanted to do. so since we had been planning to go somewhere and we left that same while. my dad was driving and we didn't know where to. so we went on an adventure to see whats out there. our firsts stop Malibu beach. the waves were so nice the view was like no other. but the water was very cold so we were there for a while soaked in the view. and we left. we stopped for a second time to call it a day. we were in Ventura. i saw many cows and a couple of goats. there were many farms leaving the everything around the road green and alive. my dad got a hotel and we stayed in the pool for the rest of the day. later on that same day there was an earthquake and i was taking a shower when it happened so it was scary. The next day my dad had thought of going to sequoia park to see whats up. and so we went and we ended up camping the night there. we got to go in the freezing cold river and i went hiking with my little brother. the day after sleeping in a tent in the woods we went farther into sequoia park and it was so beautiful. there was a ledge where you can see everything and the vibes are present. the trees we're crazy tall. On our way back my dad was driving and my siblings and i ended up falling asleep. i woke up to the smell of something burnt something nasty something i only knew as a tire. our tire had popped and we had no where to go we were surrounded by farms and it was really overwhelming. owe took the fastest exit of the "freeway" and pulled over by a gas station. my dad told me to go get the spare tire so i got out opened the trunk and took stuff out of my way and pulled out the tire. my dad was taking out the wheel and we put the spare in. after putting the popped one in the car we were looking for a tire shop because you cant really rely on a spare tire. after 2 hrs we found a tire shop that said they had the tire after waiting for a while my dad comes out and says they couldn't find it. so we left back home with the spare my dad was driving really slow. but it gave me a chance to see everything again. we needed we camped and traveled with only what we had in the car and of course clothes we packed for the amount of 2-3 days. this trip took us 4 days.
